Ribs that melt in your mouth. Chicken wings with that unforgettable mesquite flavor. And don’t neglect smoked veggies: corn, onions, peppers, and even tomatoes!
But not everyone wants the hassle that comes with charcoal or wood smokers. Sometimes, you just want something you can plug in, turn on, and get smokin’.
Leave the fancy methods to the better-than-thou grillmasters. For the rest of us that just want to chow down on good old-fashioned BBQ, we’ve got electric smokers: simple to use for simply delicious food.
But not all smokers are created equally. In this Cajun Injector Smoker Review, I’ll take a look at whether or not this model has what it takes to please the crowd at your next backyard barbecue.
Cajun Injector promises a lot in this smoker, and it really does come equipped with everything you could ask for.
This electric smoker is designed for very simple operation. Just set the temperature and time, and the Cajun Injector does the rest. It even features an automatic shut off so you don’t need to hover around like a helicopter. For once the grillmaster can enjoy the party too!
Insulated for energy efficiency and equipped with a digital control panel, the Cajun Injector is designed to maintain consistent temperatures between 100 and 275 degrees Fahrenheit.
And this sucker is built to smoke a lot of food. Five standard racks, two more for jerky, and a sausage hanger mean that you could feed a small army with this bad boy.
The Cajun Injector Electric Smoker features a tray that you can use to add wood pellets for extra flavor, and even includes a side access chute so that you can add them any time during cooking. The access chute is a bit small, but it’s a relatively easy learning curve to get over.
Another simple feature that I love are the adjustable feet and door latch. Sometimes, it’s the little things that count most, and Cajun Injector does think about making things easy for the chef.
I don’t have room in my Cajun Injector Electric Smoker Review to go into detail about every single feature, but a few more bear mentioning. It’s got wheels for ease of transport, as well as drip and water pans to control the mess.
It also comes complete with oven mitts, air damper, and a collection of recipes to get you started—perfect for the newbie smoker.
Overall, it is a well-intentioned design that aims high, taking the guesswork out of smoking and making things easy for the cook.
As good as our Cajun Injector Review sounds so far, I can’t leave out some of the biggest complaints that users around the web have about this electric smoker. In fact, at the time of writing this post, more than 60% of the Amazon reviews for the Cajun Injector are just 1 or 2 stars.
By far the biggest concern of this electric smoker among users is the short lifespan. Many reviewers report that it simply stopped working after a few uses (generally ranging from 3 to 8). While some reviews reported a long lifespan, there are simply too many people who complained of the Cajun Injector going caput for me to trust this smoker.
The only thing worse than paying a few hundred dollars for a product that doesn’t work is being unable to get a satisfactory response from the manufacturer.
So many reviewers share horror stories of their complaints falling on deaf ears. Either the company was unwilling to refund or replace the purchase, or they simply never responded at all.
Another common gripe with the Cajun Injector is the temperature gauge reporting incorrect temps. One user found that the number was off by as much as 40 degrees!
When the thermostat isn’t calibrated, that means the heat won’t regulate itself, which can lead to painfully long cooking times—or worse—dangerously undercooked food. One reviewer even mentioned smoking meat for twelve hours and it still being underdone.
You would hope that if you can’t get help from the manufacturer, then at least you could fix things yourself. Unfortunately, that’s not the case with the Cajun Injector. The most common cause of breakdown in this model is a faulty heating element, and unlike most electric smokers, you can’t replace it with this brand.
When it comes down to it, can I recommend the Cajun Injector Electric Smoker?
While plenty of customers report deliciously smoked food and rave about the convenient features, the bad just outweighs the good far too much for this brand.
Spacious cooking racks and simple controls mean nothing if you can’t rely on the product to work consistently, and that’s exactly the problem with the Cajun Injector: inconsistency. You might buy one and have a killer barbecue, but there’s no knowing when the machine might just cease to function.
Even the 90 day warranty doesn’t ease my mind. Many users report the smoker working fine for six months or longer before unexpectedly crashing. Even this is too short of a lifespan for an expensive product like this.
With the high price tag on this model, and plenty of other more trustworthy brands with similar features on the market, the final verdict of my Cajun Injector Electric Smoker Review is no thank you.
